Alessandro Romeo

Graduated in Physics at the University of Parma in 1996.

In October 1997 he is appointed as research fellow at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology
(ETHZ) in Zurich, CH, and in the same lab I start my PhD work on CdTe thin film solar cells. After PhD work, from February 2002, he is fellow researcher still at ETHZ on alternative buffer layers for CIGS thin film solar cells.

In April 2004 Alessandro is appointed as assistant professor at the University of Verona,  working on absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy and on, most of all, on chalcogenide thin film solar cells. He has been able to found a new laboratory for the study and fabrication of thin film solar cells.

In December 2013 he is qualified for Associate Professorship in Experimental Physics and also in Applied Physics and from December 2014 he is associate professor at the University of Verona.

In 2017 Alessandro Romeo has been awarded with the qualification for full professorship in Experimental Physics of Matter (FIS/01).

He has been invited for several talks at international conferences, he has been member of the scientific committee for the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference for more than 10 years from 2010 to 2020. He has been organizer of the E-MRS Spring Meeting “Thin Film Chalcogenide Solar Cells” Symposium in 2010, in 2012 and in 2014 and still member ot the scientific committee.

Alessandro Romeo is author of more than 150 international papers, 5 international patents and 4 book chapters.

Activities:

Thin Film Solar Cells

The LAPS Laboratory in Verona is able to provide different characterization and deposition machines like vacuum evaporation, chemical bath deposition, I-V and C-V measurement system, Atomic force microscopy,

Other characterization techniques are available in the university: scanning electron microscopy, micro-raman, x-rady diffraction spectroscopy, etc…

We are fabricating novel thin film devices that are able to perform good efficienciencies and can be deposited on every different kind of substrates. Particularly we are expert in Sb2Se3, SnS, Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 and CdTe based devices

Sensors and devices

We are also able to fabricate different kind of electronic devices such as NFC antenna, optical sensor, electrical sensors.

Other activities

Other activities like the analysis of nano-biostructures for bio-medical applications.

batteri

The laboratory is equipped with two Atomic Force Microscopes able to study biological structures in air and also in liquid.
It is possible to make in vivo analysis and to study conformation changes in time and in different environments.
