Vittorio Murino is full professor in Computer Science.

Director of the Pattern Analysis & Computer Vision (PAVIS) department, Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Genova, Italy

Chairman of the Department of Computer Science, University of Verona, from 2001 (year of foundation) to 2007.

Associate professor, 1998 - 2000, University of Verona, Italy.

Assistant professor, 1995 - 1998, University of Udine, Italy.

Post-Doctoral Fellow, 1993 - 1995, University of Genova, Italy

Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, 1993, University of Genova.

Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering (cum laude), 1989, University of Genova.

Research interests:

Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition
Acoustic and optical underwater vision
Graphics and vision
Multimodal intelligent interfaces (Human-Computer Interaction)

Scientific management of several national and European projects, especially in the context of the MAST (MArine Science and Technology), BRITE-EURAM, Future and Emerging Technology (FET) and Security programmes.

Evaluator for the European Commission of research project proposals from 1996 in the context of the 5th, 6th and 7th Frameworks.

Associate Editor of the following journals:
Promoter and founder in 2005 of the eVS embedded Vision Systems S.r.l., the first start-up company of the University of Verona.
Referee for many international journals.

Senior member of IEEE and IAPR Fellow.
